Hello Gary,
Great question and nice choice looking at the Flint Hill Goods Trailer Dolly # FHG24ZR. It’s a handy little tool for moving lighter trailers like your 17' Casita, and it’s rated for up to 600 lbs of tongue weight, which means it should have no problem handling a trailer in that size and weight range. It’s built from black powder-coated steel and uses 12-inch pneumatic tires on a fixed 1-7/8" hitch ball, so it’s sturdy and smooth-rolling on firm surfaces.
As for storage, this model isn’t really designed to fold up or come apart easily. Once it’s assembled, it’s pretty much meant to stay that way. The handle doesn’t fold down, and there aren’t any quick-release features for the wheels. You can remove the tires if you really want to save space, but you’d need basic tools and a few minutes to do it. It’s not a quick, no-tool operation. Most folks just roll it into a corner of the garage or stand it upright against a wall when they’re done.
If you have limited storage space, you could lean it vertically or even hang it on a wall hook by the frame to keep it out of the way. The dolly’s footprint isn’t huge, but it definitely takes up more space than a foldable design. If easy storage is a big priority for you, there are other trailer dollies out there with collapsible handles or removable wheels that might be worth a look. I’d be happy to point out some good compact options if you’d like.
Overall, the # FHG24ZR should do a solid job of helping you move your Casita around as long as your tongue weight stays below that 600 lb rating. It’s simple, tough, and reliable, just not the most space-saving model once assembled.
So are you limited on storage? Or just in high hopes that it would break down to save on storage?
