Lauren, for the tonneau cover, the first-time install on your 2025 Sierra 1500 should take about 20-40 minutes with basic tools. Once it’s set up, the JayBar # FT97MJ rack can be removed or reattached in minutes since it uses the pre-clamped Fas-Top rail channels from your # FT42MV tonneau. No drilling, no modification, just bolt-on.

Are you adding it for work or weekend use?

Probably weekend use. We haul mountain bikes and paddleboards. Do you know if the JayBar fits standard bike trays or if I’d need adapters?

@Lauren The JayBar crossbars use standard 1/4? T-slot channels, so most Yakima, Rhino-Rack, and Thule accessories will slide right in. Just a heads-up - the crossbars on the JayBar are spaced farther apart than most roof racks due to the non-adjustable nature of where they mount at the front and back of your truck bed. Because of that, full-length bike trays typically won’t fit since most are designed for a maximum spread of 36–40 inches. For gear like kayak carriers, SUP mounts, or other individual pieces that attach directly to each bar, you’ll be totally fine. Those work great with the JayBar setup and make solid use of the wider stance. In that case, you could throw the bike on a roof rack (rather than JayBar on the bed) or use a hitch rack. Where do you usually head out - local lakes or longer road trips?
