Can Draw-Tite Max-Frame Hitch Hold Young Electric 2-Bike E-bike Rack On 2016 BMW X1 xDrive28i

Updated 09/30/2025 | Published 09/08/2025

Question:

I have a 2016 BMW X1 xDrive28i. Will this hitch be able to support my Young Electric 2-Bike E-bike Hitch Rack, EZ-FOLD Fat Tire Electric Bike Carrier, 200 LBS Capacity, plus two E-Bikes with their batteries removed? That is the main reason I am looking at getting a hitch installed.

Hi Flash; the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch # 76018 has a tongue weight capacity of 675 lbs which is more than enough for that bike rack and your e-bikes. The limiting factor is likely the tongue weight capacity of your vehicle. Make sure 2016 BMW X1 xDrive28i is capable of handling the weight of your bikes plus the rack.

Any big trips planned with your e-bikes once you get the hitch installed?

Hey Flash, did you find out if your BMW can handle the weight of your bikes and rack? I'd love to hear how it worked out for you, as it could give others confidence when ordering similar setups.

@RobinH I am not sure how to figure that out. That was my biggest question from the beginning. It doesn’t say anything in the manual or on the sticker inside the driver’s side opening. It gives total hauling weight including passengers, but nothing specific to tongue weight, towing capacity, or anything else that would indicate if it can handle the weight. Total hauling weight is 900lbs.

@FlashF it isn't clear online either, I would check with your local dealer.
