Question:
Can this hitch handle a small pop-up camper? My 2019 CR-V is rated to tow 1,500 lbs, and my trailer is about 1,200 lbs loaded.

You’re right to look into these towing numbers carefully. The Trailer Mate hitch # TMT34FR itself is rated for 1,500 lbs GTW and 150 lbs tongue weight, so on paper it lines up perfectly with Honda’s factory tow rating for your CR-V which is also 1,500lbs GTW and 150 lbs tongue weight. Normally we say to stay within whichever rating is lower, but in this case, they are the same so you’ll be in good shape.
Don’t forget you’ll also need a wiring harness so your trailer lights sync with the vehicle. Have you already installed wiring? If not, we have the plug and play # C56370.
Anyone else towing lightweight campers with a CR-V - what’s your go-to trailer setup and ball mount?
