Does Shorted Out Tekonsha Trailer Wiring Harness for 2013 Ford Focus Need to be Replaced
Updated 09/02/2025 | Published 06/23/2025 >
Question:
I got 118549 car wiring harness, for my 2013 ford focus hatchback, back in 2021 and it has worked great up to this point. I had some work done to my car and they put the ground connection on the positive terminal. That blew the fuse and caused the trailer lights to stop working properly. At first it was just the turn signal lights/brake lights that would not work. Now no lights work. I fixed the ground connection and replaced the fuse. Even after doing that the lights for my trailer are still not getting power. Do I need the replace the wiring harness or is there something else I should check?

Hey Landon, the trailer wiring harness is shot and would need to get replaced. So a new # 118549 would be what you would want.
