I may have some information that will help, but due to the lack of available information on the older Holiday Ramblette travel trailers, I cannot tell you the exact function of the eighth wire. Even the manufacturer could not provide information for trailers beyond 1982.

On some of the older trailers manufacturers provided an additional 12 volt power circuit such as a 12 volt refrigerator or secondary battery. This allowed the vehicle battery to power those additional circuits when towing.

Another possibility would be for an unconventional tail light setup such as separate turn signals and brake lights, but it sounds like you have already accounted for the tail light functions. My recommendation would be to use an independent 12 volt power source, such as a vehicle battery, to apply power to that wire to see what powers up on the trailer. If you find nothing, then I would tie it off as long as all of your trailer lights, brakes and 12 volt power circuit work.
