In the picture there is a square platform to the left of the ball receiver it is between the 2 square opening and the brand name Draw-Tite What is this square for?

The square platform to the left of the ball receiver on the Draw-Tite Class III Trailer Hitch, item # 75237 is a mounting plate for mounting electrical connectors. You can use any of the mounting brackets that we have available (see link) with this mounting platform to secure the vehicle trailer wiring at the rear of the vehicle.
