We have several different trunk mount bike racks listed as a fit for your 2013 BMW X3 as long as your X3 does not have a plastic spoiler at the top of the rear hatch. Or if the spoiler is metal and built into the door, then you should not have any problems using a trunk mounted bike rack that will fit. I have attached a link to all of the bike racks that will fit your X3 for you to check out. The Hollywood Racks Expedition 2 Bike Rack, # HRF6-2, that you referenced will fit.

If your X3 has the plastic spoiler, then I strongly recommend using the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top 2 Bike Rack, # HRF2. The plastic spoiler was not designed to support any additional weight and due to the mounting style of trunk mounted bike racks, the spoiler could be deformed or damaged over time. The Over-the-Top bike rack has a third arm that routes the top straps up and over the spoiler. Check out the demonstration video I attached for this rack.

If you will be carrying any womens, childrens or alternative frame bikes that do not have a top horizontal crosstube, then I recommend picking up a bike adapter bar like part # HRBA-PRO. Bikes with small or angled frames can be difficult to load on a bike rack and cause ground clearance problems. This adapter will allow you to load the bikes easily and safely.

If I'm being completely honest neither the Yakima HangOut or Saris Bones rack will be particularly kind to carbon fiber frames. We DO have a few trunk racks that would work well for this type of bike, unfortunately none are compatible with your BMW X3. Would you consider adding a trailer hitch like # 76226 and using a wheel mounted rack that wouldn't contact the frames at all? This is the best solution.
