One is marked C the other is marked 3. Which one is mounted side-to-side or end-to-end

The levels in the Hopkins Graduated RV Levels, item # HM08525, are not specific to their mounting location. You will need to use a separate level to be sure the trailer is level, front to back and side to side, before installation and apply the levels with the bubble in the center position.
