Upgraded Pin Box Recommendation For 2022 Grand Design 303RLS With Lippert 1621 Pin Box

Question:
I have a 2022 Grand Design 303RLS with a 1621 Lippert standard pin box. The GVWR is 11995. I have a BandW Companion 5th wheel hitch in a 2018 F250 with the 69inch bed. I am looking to upgrade the pin box to either a MOR-Ryde or Gen-Y. Which would be the best option? Thanks for your opinion.

Hello Rusty, thanks for reaching out. What I recommend for you is the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel Pin Box # 325-GH-8040. This is designed specifically to replace the Lippert 1621 pin box, and it is properly rated for your 11,955 lb GVWR 5th wheel. The Gen-Y pin boxes are fantastic and they are made here in the USA. They use torsion rubber to absorb shock, much like a torsion trailer axle. This gives you much better ride quality compared to a standard pin box. The torsion rubber also requires no maintenance over time which really sets it apart from other shock absorbing pin boxes like the air ride ones. The MORryde pin boxes work fine but in my opinion the Gen-Y will give you better results and an overall better towing experience.

Hey Rusty, how did the Gen-Y shock absorbing pin box work out on your Grand Design? Did you notice a smoother ride compared to the standard Lippert pin box? Your feedback could really help others deciding between these two options.
