Will The Saris Bones Hitch Rack Allow Rear Door To Open On 2019 Ram Promaster

Question:
I have a 2019 Ram Promaster. Since I have a ladder, I cant use the Thule door mounted bike rack, which was my 1 preference. With the Saris Bones hitch rack, can I open the rear van doors with the rack tilted down? I know I would have to remove the bike from the rack, but I dont want to also have to remove the rack itself. Thank you.

Hey Kevin, thanks for reaching out. The Saris Bones Hitch Bike Rack # SA882 does have a tilt feature so it is possible that you can still open the rear doors on your van with the rack installed. There would be no way for me to absolutely confirm this though without actually having the van and the rack here to test. What I can tell you is the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the upright mast of the rack is 9-1/2" and this is before it is tilted. I know this is not the most helpful thing even but your best bet will be to compare this measurement to your van and see how close the doors come to the 9-1/2" mark. This will be the best way to get an idea of fitment.

Thank you for the reply, Jesse. I probably should have been a little more specific... it's important to me that the doors open ALL THE WAY. I know they will open partially. It's going to be very close. I hate to order this product only to find the doors do not open all the way.
