Can I Put Larger Tires On My 2005 Fleetwood Hemlock Camper

Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 10/08/2024

Question:

We have a 2004 Fleetwood Hemlock that came standard with a C78-ST14 tires which translate to using ST205/75-14 tires. Would a ST215/75-14 tire fit? Looking at being able to handle more weight because camper weighs about 3800 pounds alone.

Hello Joe, thanks for reaching out. It may be possible to put the ST215/75-14 tires on your trailer. The main thing to consider here is the clearance in the wheel well area. You want at least 3" between the tire and the fender, and at least 1" between the inside of the tire and the frame of the trailer.

The ST205/75R14 tires are about 26.3" in diameter and 8.1" wide. If we go up to the ST215/75R14 tires they are 26.8" in diameter and 8.5" wide. So, not a whole lot bigger, but you will still want to go measure your wheel sell area to make sure they will fit without any issues. As long as you have space, you are good to upgrade.

The Provider ST215/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # TTWTRTM2157514D is a great option for an upgrade.

Hey Joe, how did things turn out with the ST215/75R14 tires on your Fleetwood Hemlock? Did the extra clearance in the wheel wells work out for the upgrade? Your update could make it easier for the next person looking to handle more weight on a similar camper.
