Can this rack be used to carry a mountain bike equipped with 29inch wheels?

Tire size is not a factor as far as fit/compatibility for the Topline Truck Bed Bike Rack # AB2600. Instead you will want to measure the diameter of the mountain bike frames to see if the clamps will fit your bikes.The clamps fit bike frames up to 1-1/2 inches in diameter.
Another option is the Thule Insta-Gater Truck Bed Single Bike rack, part # TH93VR. This is a single bike rack, but you can put two of them side by side in your truck bed. This bike rack holds the bikes by a ratcheting hook clamped to the front tire, so the size of the bike frame will not matter. The rack holds bikes with a wheel size from 20 inches to 29 inches and a tire width of up to 5 inches.
