Troubleshooting Right Blinker Flashing At Double Speed With 4-Way on 2016 Ford Escape

Question:

I installed a T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector on my 2016 Ford Escape but when I have it connected my right blinkers flash double speed and the turn signals outside the car do not come on. The left works fine and so do the brake lights and the emergency blinkers. Do you have any suggestions on what might be wrong? When I unplug the connectors behind the tail lights the blinkers work normally. Thanks, Jim Desmond

Hi James; does your 2016 Ford Escape have LED lights? If so, this is hyperflashing and installing load resistors # DI34ZR will fix it. If not, I would say it is a ground issue. Double check the ground on # 118566 to make sure it is secure. If you didn't clean the area underneath and it has dirt or rustproofing the connection won't be good which would explain the issue.

Hey James, did adding the load resistors or checking the ground on your wiring harness solve the blinking issue on your Escape? Your update could make it easier for others troubleshooting the same problem.

It turned out the wire going from one side to the other in the back had slipped down and was laying on the muffler and melted the insulation and it was shorting out intermittently. I cut out the damaged section and spliced it back together with some shrink wrap and it's all good. Thanks
