could you please provide a explanation as to why Part Number: C16530-16020 will not fit my 2012 ram 1500 sport truck, or provide a product that will fit? Thank you

Hello Rob, thanks for reaching out. The Curt Q20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # C16530-16020 will not fit a Ram truck because it was made for the Ford OEM Puck System. It will only work with the 2011-2025 F250 and F350 with the OEM puck system.
You can still install a sliding 5th wheel hitch in your 2012 Ram 1500 sport truck, but you will need to install a set of industry standard 5th wheel rails first. For that I recommend the B&W Semi-Custom 5th Wheel Installation Kit for Dodge Ram # BWRVR3205-00. This will allow you to install any 5th wheel hitch made for the industry standard rails (ISR) such as the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3270. There are other 5th wheel hitch options that will work. I recommend the B&W because they are super durable and user friendly. All made here in the USA too.
Just keep in mind the 5th wheel install kit I mentioned will NOT fit models with the rambox bed.

Hey Rob, how did things go with adding the B&W rail kit and Patriot slider to your Ram 1500? Your update could make it easier for the next person setting up a 5th wheel hitch on a similar truck.
