If your 1998 Jeep does not already have a trailer connector then you will need to install a wiring harness in order to power the lights on the trailer. You can use harness # 118354. I have linked a video showing how it installs on a 1997 Cherokee. The process will be the same on your 1998. Once the harness is installed you will have a 4-Way flat trailer connector at the back of the Jeep.
