Underbed Rails or Above-Bed 5th Wheel Rails for 2022 Ford F-250 Short Bed

Question:
I have a 2022 F250 6 3/4 bed. I want to install a 5th wheel hitch setup. I does not have the puck system. I am wondering if it is worth installing the puck system have to remove bed from truck or going with a rail system. What is your opinion? Also, does the rail type systems bolt to the frame or just the bed of the truck?

Hi Charles,
This is a pretty tough one to give you a recommendation on because the answer really depends on how much you use your truck bed, or if you tow a gooseneck trailer. Do you use the bed of your 2022 Ford F-250 often for hauling or work or other things? Then yes, it's 100 percent worth it to go with the Underbed Rail and Installation Kit # RP87FR.
But if your truck bed isn't something you depend on for use, then there isn't a downside to going with above bed rails, the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Ford # C79BR.
The # C79BR does bolt to the frame of your F-250, but doesn't require drilling into it. The Curt install kit is a much easier install as well, because having to remove your entire truck bed like you do with the # RP87FR is a pretty big task.

Hey Charles, how did things go with your 5th wheel hitch setup on your F-250? Did you end up choosing the underbed kit or the above-bed rail system? Your update could make it easier for others deciding between those two options.
