Can 20 Amp Circuit Breaker be Used with Tekonsha RF Brake Controller

Question:

Prodigy RF Brake Controller - On the Seven Way connector does the Electric Brake terminal need to be powered with a 20 amp circuit if I have the Battery Charge terminal powered on a 20 amp circuit...i.e. do both Electric Brake and Battery Charge terminals need to be powered on separate 20 amp circuits? Thanks for your help!

Hey Fletcher, a 20 amp breaker on the 12 volt circuit can work with the Tekonsha RF brake controller part # TK94FR unless your trailer has 3 brake axles as then you'd need to bump up to a 30 amp breaker for that circuit.

There wouldn't be a way to run a separate breaker for this brake controller and 12 volt accessory circuit since they use same circuit.

Hello, Just to be clear there are seven terminal pins on the trailer wiring connector...not sure which one is the one you call the "accessory circuit" Pin 1 Common ground Pin 2 Electric brake Pin 3 Tail and license Pin 4 Battery charge Pin 5 Left Stop and turn Pin 6 Right stop and turn Pin 7 Center auxiliary which one of these should be powered for the Prodigy RF 902502? Thanks for clearing this up! Fletcher

@Fletcher Pin 4 battery charge from the list you gave would be what I am referring to. It's typically called 12 volt aux but since it is pretty commonly used to charge trailer batteries it can also be called battery charge.
