Recommended Replacement AC System For A 2000 Fleetwood Mallard Travel Trailer

Updated 07/13/2024 | Published 07/05/2024

Question:

I have a 2000 Fleetwood Mallard Travel Trailer 29S. I think this is the original AC, a Coleman Mach model-NO 8333-8664 Serial No 099915906 which has stopped working. What is the control box? I see the description for this unit states will not be compatible if the control box is built into the existing AC unit.

Hey Nelson,

The metal box with all the wiring running to it is your system's controller. It looks like it's hardwired instead of using a 6 or 9-pin connector so you would want to replace the whole system. The system you have has a 13,500BTU rating so I recommend going with the Furrion Chill HE RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 13,500 Btu - White # FR95PV or # FR35PV for a black shroud.

This will come with everything you need component-wise but you'll need to reuse the mounting bolts from the old rooftop unit and some additional wiring to run from the controller to the thermostat. I've attached a video below where Brad will walk you through the installation.

I should have mentioned this is a ducted unit.

@AdditionalI The Furrion # FR95PV or # FR35PV are compatible with ducted systems. You'll just have to close the louvers of air distribution box to force air through the ducts.
