Question:
I did not shut off the disconnect for my new Grand Design 5th wheel and now my batteries are dead. I have a 330w solar panel system but the batteries are not charging. I know plugging into shore power is the best way to recharge the batteries, but is there another option? My 2020 F350 has the 7 pin connector but I don’t think would be enough to charge the batteries. Thanks!

Hey Brady,
The solar panel system should've done a good job of keeping the batteries charged in storage unless a lot of things were left on pulling a large load. I'd be curious to see if the solar panel system was installed correctly and actually sending power to the batteries.
To answer your question, yes, there is another way to charge your trailer batteries while towing with one of Redarc's BCDC chargers. Something like the 25 amp # 331-BCDC1225D would be more than enough to charge your batteries back up while traveling to your campground. You'll also need to pick up the 40-Amp MIDI Fuse Kit # 331-FK40 to protect the batteries and charger.

Hey Brady, how did things go after adding the Redarc BCDC charger to your setup? Did it give your 5th wheel batteries the boost you needed while towing? Your update could make it easier for others dealing with the same charging issue.
