Good morning, Im looking for a swing arm hitch extender, in 2. I have an aluminum fishing and cooler rack that Id like to set up similar to the Rola product you sell. All Ive been able to find is the scooter device, which I could maybe modify, but would prefer something that could swing away while loaded. Any help would be appreciated! Vehicle is a 2000 jeep grand cherokee. Typically the cooler rack is mounted on the front,but front hitches are also hard to find for this vehicle model!

The 2-inch hitches offered for your 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee are all Class III rated, with a maximum tongue weight capacity of 500-lbs. All can be seen using the link provided.

The issue that arises with use of fixed hitch adapter/steps like the units you reviewed, # MT70069 from MaxxTow, is that they have the unavoidable side-effect of reducing your hitch's capacity by half (50 percent). This is because all such devices alter the geometry of the forces applied to the hitch.

On the other hand, the Yakima EXO Swing Away Enclosed Cargo Carrier - 2" Hitches - 10 cu ft - 100 lbs # Y62VR, can be swung out from the vehicle when loaded to its 100-lb capacity. And its pod can be locked to the frame and removed as needed. This Yakima unit is shown in the two linked videos.

If you want to purchase only the extender, that is offered as part # Y34VR or a similar # Y82VR. These could possibly meet your specific need.
