Can I mount my old square crossbars to these uprights/towers?

Assuming you have older Thule Square Bars, you would not be able to use the towers # TH24BW used in the Kit # TH29611XT you had been looking at with your bars, as the old bars do not have a channel in the bottom of them that the new ones have and that's what the towers use to connect to the bar.
With that said you'd need to just buy the whole new kit # TH29611XT which will come with new crossbars for you.
