Looking For 2" Ball Coupler For A 2-1/2" Channel

Updated 05/30/2024 | Published 05/26/2024

Question:

I’m looking for a straight coupler for 2-1/2 channel. I am replacing my 1-7/8 ball coupler with a new 2” ball coupler. I can find couplers like this but only with 3500 capacity. I’m thinking that the mount holes are LOWER on the class 1 coupler than on the class 2 coupler. That would help me with the fit. So I think I want a 2000 pond coupler. Dan. 508.789.3410

Hello Dan, thanks for reaching out. As far as the 2" ball couplers go, the lowest rating we offer is 3,500 lb. The 2,000 lb rated couplers are only made for a 1-7/8" ball, so these would not work for you. Our best option for a 2-1/2" channel is the Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # CT-3002-Z. This uses two mounting holes 3" apart on center so depending on where the current holes are you may have to drill new ones. If you don't want to have to drill you will need to stick with a 1-7/8" ball coupler like part # CT-2002-Z which has holes 2-1/4" apart on center.
