Question:

Hi, I drive a 2017 Ford Fusion SE. Would I be able to use part #24897 with a 2 inch hitch adapter to make it fit my 2 inch bike rack? I saw a note on one of the images that the hitch receiver won't work with Class 2 accessories so I am unsure if this will work. Thanks!

Hey Karen, you'll need a specific adapter but the answer is yes, you can use a 1-1/4 inch to 2 inch adapter for your bike rack on your 2017 Ford Fusion with the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24897.

What you will need is one compatible with the Class I hitch, the Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver # HTAD; to secure it to your hitch use the Pin & Clip # F-4.

Keep in mind this will halve the capacity of the hitch, so the capacity of your bike rack and bike(s) can only be 100 lbs with the use of the adapter. Additionally, there is another option for your 2017 Ford Fusion, which is to use a hitch with a 2 inch receiver, the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7239.

This is a more expensive option but doesn't require any type of adapter and will be able to handle your bike rack and bikes if they are over 100 lbs.
