Availability of Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution System Rated for 8,000 lbs

Question:

Hi Folks: Ive about decided that I want this hitch - Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 12,000 lbs GTW, 1,200 lbs TW - instead of a Dual Cam II to mate my new Airstream with my Nissan Titan XD. Ive used an old dual cam straight line on my current RV for almost 20 years and like it too much to change. My question is that this item is only shown as a 12K GTW with 1,200 # TW and thats way more than I need. I really only need 8K GTW and 800 # TW for the trailer thats 7,600 GTW. But how do I order and indicate that I only need 800 pound trunion bars? I cant find any way to do that, or find a listing for an item like I want. The Reese website shows the hitch I need as Reese part number 66073. Is that particular hitch available? Thanks

The Reese Strait-Line is a great system so it is a good idea to stick with it. The WDH you're looking for is the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System # RP66083. This is rated for 400-800 lbs of tongue weight and a gross towing weight up to 8,000 lbs.

I'm not sure what Airstream you have, but you want to make sure your loaded tongue weight falls into the range of the system. This includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your 2021 Nissan Titan XD. If you aren't sure, I recommend measuring with a scale like # e99044 or following one of the other methods listed in the help article below. If you find that your tongue weight exceeds the range of this hitch you will want to get the # RP66084 which is rated for 600-1,200 lbs of tongue weight instead.
