Question:

I have a FAT TAD fat tire 4 x 20 recumbent tadpole trike I am trying to carry on the factory roof rack of my 2018 Subaru Outback. I have identified the Yakima Universal Mightymount as the most likely way to interface to the bars, but am at a loss for wheel trays for fat tires that would fit to this. Any ideas? Thanks! -Mark

I do have a potential solution for you, but we do not offer any kind of roof rack mount for a trike. According to the online owners manual for a FAT TAD electric trike, the wheelbase is around 59", which would be much too long to fit on most roof racks. Also it weighs about 57 lbs. Not to underestimate your abilities, but I see it being difficult to get a trike like that on to the roof of a car. Maybe with two people it would be easier, but it would be far from ideal.

If you are set on carrying it on your roof, we do offer the SeaSucker trike carrier # 298-BD1005. This is a roof mount trike carrier that uses vacuum cups to attach directly to the roof of your car. The vacuum cups are very strong and will allow for a lot more adjustability to accommodate larger bikes. So as long as you have a open space on your roof 59" long and 38" wide, you would be able to mount this carrier and carry your trike.
