We have a 2018 Malibu and we need a way to carry my husbands go go scooter , we want on that is light weight, the scooter weighs 170 fully assembled

You'll need to use a hitch mounted scooter carrier to transport your husband's 170 lbs scooter around. We do not have any scooter carriers but I can recommend a hitch that will fit your 2018 Chevy Malibu. It is the Curt Trailer Hitch item # C12185. This is a class II hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver with a 350 lbs tongue weight.
You should confirm your Malibu's capacity but I checked online and it looks like you car has a 350 lbs maximum tongue weight. With your husband's scooter being 170 lbs this will give you quite a bit of weight for a scooter carrier.
