Replacement Roof Rack For Yakima Viper Capable Of Securing Wide Tire Bikes

Question:

I have an older Yakima roof rack that the tray it is too narrow to accept the new wheel size 2.3inch - 2.6inch wide. Is there a product that can be adapted at the tray so the tire can rest on it and be strape/hold? Thanks.

To fit a bike with a wider tire you will need to purchase a new rack like the Yakima HighSpeed Roof Bike Rack # Y02115. Your current rack looks like the Yakima Viper which was discontinued in 2016. There is no way to adapt that rack to hold a wider tire due to the design of the channel the bike sits into. The new HighSpeed rack also allows you to secure the bike by the front fork and is capable of fitting tires up to 5" wide. It will also fit your round roof rack bars.

We also have the Yakima HighRoad Roof Bike Rack # Y02114 capable of securing up to a 4" wide tire if you would prefer to have a rack which allows you to leave your front tire on.
