The only roof mounted carrier that is recommended for vehicles without a roof rack are some cargo bags like the Rightline Ace Cargo Bag, # RL100A20. This cargo bag has straps that can run through the vehicles interior and then out around the carrier to secure the bag to the vehicle.

If you were interested in a cargo basket or a cargo box, you will want to add a roof rack. There are many different roof rack options for your 2009 Honda Fit. I have attached a link to all of the roof rack options that will fit your vehicle without a factory roof rack. The Thule SquareBar Roof Rack consists of the 47 Inch Square Crossbars, # TH712200, the Evo Clamp # TH710501, and the Fit Kit, # TH145126. The square crossbars are compatible with almost all roof mount cargo boxes and baskets on the market.
