Is a Slider 5th Wheel Hitch Needed in a Short Bed Truck if the Trailer Has an Extended Pin Box

Question:
I have a2003 ford f350 crew cab with a short bed 80 inches. I am buying a new reflection 5th wheel by grand design that has an extended pin box. would I still need a slider. I will have the air safe 25k binkley/holland head in my truck.

To determine if you will need a slider you will need to take some measurements. You will measure from the center of the hitch jaws forward to the back of the truck cab. Then, measure from the center of the trailer kingpin back to the trailer overhang. Add these two numbers together.
Next measure the width of the trailer overhang. Divide by 2 to get half the width.
The measurements you took on the truck and pinbox need to be at least 4 inches greater than half the width of the trailer to safely make 90 degree turns. If it is less than 4 inches you will need to use a slider which will provide 10 to 12 inches of additional travel depending on the model.
