Why Does My Roof Rack Keep Falling Off My 2010 Chevrolet Malibu?

Question:
There is nowhere for the clamps to grab in the door frame. It is smooth and flat and the clamps just pulls off as soon as I close the door. Besides that, the instructions refer to a knob 2 and screw y.

Usually when the clamps on a roof rack like your SportRack Semi-Custom Roof Rack for Naked Roofs # SR1002 won't stay in place, or keeps falling out, that is an indicator that the clamps are in the wrong position, or when you're tightening one side all at once, as oppose to alternating sides.
I recommend that you verify that you have the clamps in the correct position, and try alternating the tightening from one side to the other, as well as ensuring that the clamps are extremely tight so they form to your roof's shape.
