Can Greystone Standard RV Microwave w/ Trim Kit Be Installed In Place of Floating Microwave

Question:

In previous post Your Tech Samuel recommended a Greystone microwave replacement for DOTR12CBIV dometic microwave. The problem is the 23-3/8 inches trim width will run into the cabinet hinge.The hole is fine Also mine mounts on the rear and is not supported by a shelve or through the upper cabinet either. See attached files Any suggestions as to which microwave I should be getting as a replacement?

The Greystone Standard RV Microwave w/ Trim Kit # 324-000106 could serve as a replacement for your Dometic DOTR12CBIV microwave but it's designed to sit on a solid service - there aren't any provisions for mounting it so it floats like what you show pictured.

So for your application you'll either have to go with a different microwave that does have mounting options for a floating position (we have one as part # 324-000135 but it's too wide for your application so you'll have to unfortunately look elsewhere) or you'll have to build out a shelf durable enough for this microwave and whatever you plan on putting in it. If you decide to build out the shelf then it would probably be easier to just box in the dimensions to match the microwave without using the trim kit - 19" wide x 13-1/2" tall x 14-1/4" deep.
