Question:
Hi! I have a 2008 Ford Edge SEL which I got after my other car was totaled by a left turn driver. I need to put a hitch on and found an open wiring plug under the rear center bumper. I think its a factory trailer lighting plug. But I cant match it to anything. If it is for trailer lighting, I need an adapters to go to a 4 prong flat connector. I have pictures, but I guess I cant include them in this e-mail. Can you help me out?

It's possible the connector you found behind the rear bumper of your 2008 Ford Edge is for trailer wiring but none of the kits we offer for your vehicle use a connector in that location. If there was a simple trailer wiring connector there I would easily assume Tekonsha or Curt would have come up with a solution that utilized it since that is typically what they do. I wonder if maybe what you found is for a sensor that attaches to the rear bumper like for air bags possibly. You could use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test the pins of the connector for voltage when you apply various turn signal circuits to be sure.
The best solution for trailer wiring would be the Tekonsha part # 118551 which plugs inline with the taillight connectors instead.
