Hello, I was wondering if you could use a high grade chain with a Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Tow Strap Loop, 8K TR63046 instead of a tow strap. I know it is made for straps, but I just wanted to know if a chain would work for it. Also if it does not work with chains, are there any other hitch mount tow hooks recommended for chains? Thank you

My contact at TowReady confirmed that their Trailer Hitch Receiver Mounted Tow Strap Loop, part # TR63046, will work either with tow straps or with chains. The main thing to keep in mind is that you need to use an appropriately-rated strap or chain along with this 8000-lb-rated tow strap loop.
Straps and chains are rated for a safe working load limit (WLL) which is one-third of their break strength. For example, we offer the Erickson # EM59798 Tow Strap which is rated for a safe working load limit of 10,000-lbs.
