How to Determine the Weight Carrying Capacity of the Roof on a GMC Terrain to Carry a Cargo Bag

Question:
I have a GMC terrain with roof rails but no cross bars. Do you have any idea how much weight I can put in the bag and not damage the roof panel? Owners manual only gives weight with cross bars.

Check the side rails on your Terrain. There may be a sticker with a weight rating on it. If it is present I would either go by it or the capacity listed for if the vehicle had crossbars. It would also be a good idea to call a GMC dealer and speak with someone who may be able to give you the roof carrying capacity.
I also recommend using protective pad # RL100650 between the vehicle roof and the bag to protect the vehicle from scratches.
