Im looking to put a hitch on my g6 but its a 2010, looking at the pictures there doesnt seem to be much difference between the two. Would this set up work on my car?

The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, part # 36426 you referenced, is a fit for your 2009 Pontiac G6, if it is not a convertible. This is a class ll hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.
The maximum towing capacity is 3500 lbs, and the maximum tongue weight is 300 lbs. I would recommend you check your owners manual or with your local dealership concerning the towing capacity of your vehicle if you are planning on towing. If so, you will need a ball mount. I would recommend Class II ball mount with 3-1/8 inch rise, part # 36061, which includes the pin and clip.
I have linked you to a video for the ball mount. You will also need a hitch ball with a 3/4 inch shank. For 1-7/8 inch diameter hitch ball use part # 19256, and for 2 inch, use part # 19258.
If you are towing, trailer wiring will be necessary as well. I would recommend Curt Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56013. The installation does not require cutting or splicing and plugs directly into the existing vehicle wiring. I have linked you to a video for the wiring harness installation.
