Why Does B and W Tow n Stow Have Higher Capacity When Used as Pintle

Question:
Why does the weight rating go down from 16k to 10k when switching from pintle to 2 5/16 ball? Can this be used with a 3 inch adapter sleeve?

This is a good question, but the reason the B and W Tow And Stow part # BWTS20056 has a higher weight capacity when used with the pintle setup is because the arm that comes down and rests on the top of the ball when used as a pintle adds additional support to the ball which gives it additional capacity. It also can be used with a 3 inch hitch adapter like the part # C85JR as well.
