I have an 83 Chevy suburban I am looking at getting a roof top tent for, is this a good option?

Yes, this would be a good choice, provided that your vehicle's roof rack can handle the weight of the tent. If your 1983 Chevrolet has raised siderails the maximum weight capacity of that rack is 165 lbs. If you have the naked roof version your maximum weight capacity is 100 lbs.
