If you have crossbars that are 30 inches apart on your 2012 Mazda 5, the best option for a cargo bag is the Rightline Ace Jr Rooftop Cargo Bag - Water Resistant - 10 cu ft - 36" x 30" x 16" # RL100A50. Since the dimensions of the Ace Jr measure 36" long x 30" wide, you will be able to mount the bag sideways (with the straps toward the front and back of the vehicle) between your crossbars. However, since it will be a close fit, you may have to tuck a little bit of the edges under the front and rear crossbar.

Also, I recommend measuring the width of your roof to make sure you have a the full 36 inches of width that are required to mount the bag sideways.

If you find out that you do not have enough width on your roof (or if you want a different option), I recommend going with a cargo box like the Thule Pulse Alpine # TH613. Since you have a bar spread of 30 inches, you will be able to accommodate the Thule Pulse Alpine on your roof. The Thule Pulse Alpine will clamp onto crossbars as long as the bars do not exceed 3-5/16" wide x 1-1/2" tall. In order to make sure that the box will clamp on your bars, I recommend measuring your crossbar width and height. Also, you will be able to fully open the rear hatch on your 2012 Mazda 5 with the box mounted. I went ahead and attached a video review of what the box looks like installed on a 2012 Mazda 5.
