Question:
Is there a maximum rise allowed and still maintain towing capacity. I have this on a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I am using a blue ox 9 hole hitch utilizing the top holes. I’m worried about twisting the hitch. The trailer is approx 5,000 lbs.

Expert Reply:
Weight distribution shanks like the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution Shank for 9 Hole Adjustment item # BXW4003 have a weight capacity of 15,000 lbs for maximum gross trailer weight and a maximum tongue weight of 1,500 lbs. That capacity is for any position on the shank. You will want to make sure your lowest rated capacity, be it the receiver hitch, weight distribution system, or your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is high enough for your 5,000 lbs trailer.
