i have a extang platinum classic tonneau cover i would like a replacement. thats the only information i can get off the old cover . thank you for your help

Replacement parts are still available for the discontinued Extang Platinum Classic tonneau cover on your 2002 GMC Sierra 2500 6-1/2' bed. You should have Extang part number 7940 which is the Platinum Classic for 1999-2006 Chevy/GMC trucks with the 6-1/2' bed. In this case, the correct replacement tarp is Replacement Cover # EX6940.

I do recommend looking for the part number just to be 100% sure that this is the correct tarp. The serial/part number is typically underneath the cover towards the cab, and sometimes on the front rail.

If you want to just go with a complete replacement tonneau cover then I recommend looking into the BAKFlip G2 Hard Tonneau Cover # BAK26101. This is an upgrade to the Extang cover you currently have on your truck. The BAKFlip G2 is a folding hard cover which offers more durability and also looks better in my opinion. This cover has weather seals and drains to keep water out of your bed and it can be secured in the closed position when the tailgate is closed and locked so no one can get into your truck bed.
