4-Way Flat Vehicle Wiring Harness Options For a 2020 Chevrolet Bolt EV

Question:
I am occasionally towing a very light kayak trailer with a 2020 Chevy Bolt EV. I need to install a 4-pole plug to connect the trailer lights to the vehicle. The trailer is a Malone EcoLight from about 2018 or 2019. I think that the lights may be LED, not incandescent. Im pretty comfortable working with basic DC electrical systems, plus I have basic tools such as a volt-ohm meter, circuit testers, etc. In fact, many years ago, I actually directly wired a trailer plug to my 1973 VW Beetle! Im hoping to be able to use a basic kit of no more than around $40-$50. Can you recommend one of your products to me? Thanks!

As no manufacturer has a wiring kit that has been identified to work with your 2020 Chevrolet Bolt, the only product I would recommend for you is the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT. This product uses sensors to detect when power travels through the wiring in the harness on your Bolt. The wiring in current vehicles is much more delicate and the computers can interpret additional voltage draw as a fault and cause the vehicle to not operate properly so I do not recommend splicing wires like you did on your Beetle.
In checking with your vehicle owners manual I did notice that they say not to tow a trailer with your Bolt. This is likely why there are no wiring kits that have been identified to work with your Bolt.
