Question:
Can I plug my Hughes Autoformers 4800 Joules Surge protector into a 70 amp outlet without destroying the unit or damaging my RV?

As long as the amperage of the device does not exceed the maximum amperage of your outlet you are good to go. For reference a 60 amp circuit has 240 volt maximum which is 14,4000 watts, this device # HU57FR at 50 amps puts out 12,000 watts.
