What Adhesive To Use When Replacing Clearance Light on 1987 Itasca Motor Home

Updated 05/06/2013 | Published 05/01/2013

Question:

I have a 1987 Itasca motor home and it is missing one of the side clearance lights. The old one part # is SAE-A-P2-72. When I replace the clearance light do I need to put that putty stuff on a the back of the light before I put it on the motor home?

Helpful Expert Reply:

I would recommend using a sealer so there is minimal chance of moisture seeping behind the light fixture. I recommend the TremPro 644 Silicone Sealant # 0160297. It creates a waterproof seal at seams between joined parts and adheres to nearly anything.

Be sure to remove any old silicone or adhesive to the area prior to the application of the new silicone.
