I also tow small trailers, as well as a 12,400lb camper. Should I get a time delay controller?

In regards to choosing an electric trailer brake controller, you have proportional and time-delayed options. The best option would be a proportional brake controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 because it applies braking force in a variable amount based on the load. This will give the best performance when compared to a time-delayed controller which applies force in a set amount. The proportional controllers are also instant whereas time-delayed are not.
