What Cargo Box do You Recommend with the Rhino-Rack RVP Rack on a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Question:

I am looking to add a cargo box to our 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. We do not have cross bars currently - just the flush factory issued roof fails. If we add the Rhino Rack RRRVP27 what fits better - Thule Motion XT 16 or Yakima Skybox NX 16? We would use the box intermittently for travel few times/yr and would like to avoid the hatch hitting the box when open. THANK YOU!

If you add the Rhino-Rack RVP Roof Rack for Fixed Mounting Points # RRRVP27 to your 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, both the Thule Motion XT 16 # TH629706 and the Yakima Skybox NX 16 # Y95AV will allow you to fully open the rear hatch of your vehicle. Also, both of these boxes will clamp onto the Rhino-Rack RVP roof rack.

With that being said, I recommend the Yakima Skybox NX 16 over the Thule Motion XT 16 because the Yakima Skybox NX 16 is a more economical rack for the same cubic-footage of storage space. The Skybox NX 16 also includes an interesting feature with the SuperLatch system. This system ensures that the lid is latched closed and locked. The key can't be removed unless lid is closed properly.
