Question:
Is this shank forged or welded construction? I have another brand welded hitch shank that I am replacing and it has worn on the top where it sits in the receiver. I want to avoid a similar issue.

Expert Reply:
The Reese # RP69FR is a welded together part. If you prefer a forged style shank, I suggest the Pro Series # RP63971. This will be rated a little higher at 1,500 pounds, but I do need to say that it cannot be used in the rise position. That being said, it does have 4 3/4 inches of drop, so it nearly matches the # RP69FR.
