Question:

Hello, I just bought a new 2021 GTI. I am consider draw-tite Item # 24979. I am a little concerned with removing the body parts and cutting the black trim underneath. Will you be able to get the hitch pin through if it looks like you need to cut just enough for the receiver end? I am also concerned with introducing new rattle or not getting the bumper fascia back on as tight and neat as from the factory. so then I consider the Curt #C11412 to not have to take off anything. But the webpage says it does not fit GTI models. However, I see customers with GTI have installed it. Please confirm if this hitch will or will not work for my 2021 GTI. Thanks for any info.

You could use either the Draw-Tite # 24979 or the Curt # C11412 on your 2021 VW Golf GTI, as both have been confirmed as a fit. The biggest benefit of using the Draw-Tite # 24979 is going to be the better ground clearance since all that is exposed below the vehicle is the receiver; the Curt # C11412 has an exposed crosstube that will sit below the bottom of the vehicle slightly and can scrape if you have a steep driveway or speedbumps in your neighborhood. Both of these hitches have a 1-1/4" receiver, so they would accept the same accessories.

The hitch shouldn't cause any new rattling with trimming done but you may run into some issues without trimming fascia or underbody panels back. I've linked some review and installation videos of these two hitches for you to check out if you haven't already; it might give you a better idea if the trimming required is something you'd feel ok with doing to get the added ground clearance.
