Question:

I just purchased this trailer hitch/pintle hook combo and it comes with the Draw Tite 2 5/16inch ball. Is there a 2inch and 1 7/8inch that will fit this as well? Preferably with the higher towing capacity. The diameter shank measures 1inch but when I compared it to a Reese ball that said it was 1inch the Draw-Tite was bigger. If you could provide Part Numbers for alternate smaller balls I will buy them here. Thanks!

We offer both 1-7/8 inch and 2 inch ball sizes for your pintle setup. The 1-7/8 size is part # 63050; this ball is rated at 6000 lbs. The 2-inch size is part # TR63051; this ball is rated at 10,000 lbs. Both hitch balls have the same shank diameter (specified as 1-1/8 and measuring slightly smaller).

My contact at TowReady confirmed that their specified shank diameter for the 2-5/16 inch ball supplied with your TowReady Pintle Hook Combo, Part # TR63042, is 1-1/8 inches. I pulled a sample of this part from our warehouse and took measurements of the supplied hitch ball shank diameter. The actual diameter I measured with a precision digital caliper is 1.1 inches, which is slightly smaller than what is specified by the manufacturer. My TowReady contact told me that this variance in diameter is within their tolerance range.
