While a water softener is not required it would be your preference to use it or not with the Fogatti RV Tankless Water Heater # LSB44FR.
I do recommend at minimum using a In Line Water Filter # CAM40043 going into your camper. This will help to prevent the sediment and particles from getting into the coils of the water heater and restricting or damaging the unit.
